Dr. Rajesh Das is a distinguished academic, media researcher and higher-education administrator with over 19 years of experience in teaching, research, academic leadership and community engagement. He holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from Visva-Bharati University and an M.A. in Mass Communication from the University of Calcutta, where he secured First Class Third Position. His major areas of academic and research interest include Development Communication, Public Health Communication and Advocacy, Rural Communication, Media and Society, and participatory communication. Dr. Das has an established research profile, including an ICSSR-IMPRESS Major Research Project as Principal Investigator on health awareness among Scheduled Caste communities in rural Bengal. He has also contributed to four more ICSSR-funded research initiatives and government-supported projects, including the “JagoGrahokJago” campaign and documentary research on community and tea-tourism. His scholarly contributions include 50+ publications, comprising books, book chapters and journal articles in UGC-CARE and SCOPUS-indexed publications. He has supervised 04 awarded Ph.D. scholars, and 85 postgraduate dissertations, besides serving as a subject expert for Ph.D. theses. In academic administration, he has served as In-Charge of the Department of Mass Communication, Chairman of PGBS & UGBS, Member of the University Executive Council and University Court, and serves as NSS Programme Coordinator at the University of Burdwan, West Bengal. He has also contributed extensively to curriculum development, institutional governance, quality assurance and community outreach. His international academic engagements include presentations and invited academic participation in the UK, China, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the Singapore . He has directed and produced 50+ documentaries, including government-supported productions, demonstrating a distinctive integration of scholarship, media practice and social development.
