Lt. Gen. A.S Lamba retired as the Vice Chief of Army Staff. He has been a distinguished and decorated officer from the Parachute fraternity of Indian Army with a vast and varied experience of more than forty years. He has held several staff appointments at The Army Headquarters and Formations, and as Directing Staff at the Prestigious Defence Services Staff College at Wellington and Indian Military Academy at Dehradun. Lt. Gen. Lamba has been adorned with national honours like the Param Vishisht Seva Medal and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal for his distinction in services.

Gen. Lamba has an M Sc. and M. Phil degree in Defence and Management Studies, an MBA in International and National Marketing and a Masters degree in International Affairs from Kings College, London. Gen. Lamba has also been associated with national and international forums of strategic analysis and writes extensively in several publications of repute.
