Report : Third Annual Krishnaswamy Subrahmanyam Memorial Lecture

Global India Foundation hosted the Third Annual Krishnaswamy Subrahmanyam Memorial Lecture on January 20, 2014, at the India International Centre, New Delhi. Admiral Arun Prakash, PVSM, AVSM, VNC, VSM (Former Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy) delivered the Lecture and spoke on “Civil – Military Dissonance: Chink in India’s Armour”. (link)

The Lecture was chaired by Shri. Jaswant Singh, Member of Parliament, and former Minister of External Affairs and Defence, Government of India. Dr. Sreeradha Datta, Director, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies (MAKAIAS) also spoke on the occasion. Vice Admiral P. J. Jacob (Chairman, GIF) laid stress on the subject in his welcome address and Prof. Omprakash Mishra (Member Secretary, GIF) delivered the vote of thanks. Mr. Vijay Kumar, Late K. Subrahmanyam’s son also graced the Lecture with his presence.

The Annual Commemorative Lecture of the Foundation was well attended by members and representatives of the diplomatic corps, academia from universities and research institutes, government officials from several ministries, members of the armed forces and police service, representatives of national and international NGOs, students and media professionals. The initiative was held in collaboration with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Kolkata (MAKAIAS). It was supported by Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) as well as Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE).
